Chosen genre
I have chosen to produce a teaser trailer in the genre of romantic. I chose this genre as I have more knowledge within the genre compared to other genres. I feel that the genre is iconic and there are several conventions that I will be able to produce within my own trailer.

Top 5 trailers- The Holiday
This is the trailer for The Holiday, which is a romantic comedy. The genre is instantly recognised as romantic comedy through the iconography of the actors and actresses. Within the trailer we see Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet and Jude Law, who all are recognisable for the romantic genre. We also see Jack Black, who again is known for his roles within comedy films.
This trailer again shows the typical conventions for a romantic genre film. The two women exchange houses for two weeks, they both find love; leading to complications as one has a girlfriend and the other its 'too complicated.' However at the end all the problems are resolved and sorted.
I like this trailer through the use of two shots and shot reverse shots as it shows the characters in their relationships and portrays to the audience the romantic genre. There is also the iconic kiss within the trailer which is another representation for the romantic genre.
Top 5 trailers- Bride Wars
This is the trailer for Bride Wars; a romantic comedy genre. The film has a closed narrative, which is one of the typical conventions for a romantic genre film. Having a closed narrative means that there has been a definitive ending and all the problems have been solved, which again is a convention for a romantic genre. Within the trailer we see that there are two females, both of whom are best friends and are about to become brides and are planning their wedding. However the viewer soon sees there is a clear problem caused when both of the main female characters weddings are booked on the same day, which leads to them both falling out and sabotaging each others wedding. The trailer then shows the conventions for the genre as both brides resolve the problem; on the day of the wedding, therefore having a closed narrative.
Top 5 trailers- The Vow
This is the trailer for an upcoming film called The Vow. This film has many of the typical conventions for a romantic genre film. There is a man and a woman, who get married and then an incident happens that threatens their relationship, in this case a car crash in which the female character looses her memory, which they both have to overcome in order to have their love again. There are several icons to show to the audience that this film is a romantic genre, the kissing, the two shots and shot reverse shots to show the characters emotions and passion towards each other.
Top 5 trailers- Mean Girls
This is another of my top 5 trailers which is for the film Mean Girls. The trailer uses a voiceover but using the voice of the main character, which I think is original as usually the voiceover is produced by someone not involved in the actual film. The genre of this film is comedy drama. It is a film aimed at teen females and is an iconic film for most teen girls.
Top 5 trailers- Harry Potter
Harry Potter is a fiction fantasy collection of films. In total there are 8 films that make up the series. I have chosen Harry Potter as one of my top trailers as there is a lot of action and description of the scenes to narrate to the viewer as to what they are all about. The trailers are full of excitement, fast pace, dramatic and already create a vision and experience for the viewer before they have even seen the film. Because they are a series of trailers they all need to follow on from each other, developing on the stories, which is exactly what the trailers do.
The use of the soundtrack and music within the trailers also are an icon as they are recognisable as being from Harry Potter. There are titles within the trailers to illustrate the concept and give the audience a glimpse as to what will be happening in the film, which is a factor I like about the trailers.

Theatrical, TV and Teaser Trailers
This is a theatrical trailer, which is a trailer that is shown within a cinema. The trailer usually lasts a couple of minutes and is the full trailer for a film.
This is a TV spot trailer. A TV spot trailer is a trailer that is shown on the TV but it only usually last round 30seconds.
This is a teaser trailer which is a trailer that is put out to the audience to get them gripped to the film and is meant to 'tease' the audience about the upcoming film. A teaser trailer usually lasts around 1- 1.30 minutes in length.
