Evaluation Question 4: How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Evaluation Question 3: What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Evaluation Question 2: How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

There must be a strong connection between the main product and ancillary products in order for it to work and be a success. The connection between them must be clear to the audience so that it makes sense and the audience knows that they are all part of the same criteria. For my project I had to produce a teaser trailer and then a film poster and magazine front cover as the ancillary products which all needed to link together.

Before producing my ancillary products to go with my teaser trailer I undertook several pieces of research into existing products that have been produced and how they all linked together. It was important that it was clear to the audience that the three linked and all were recognised as being one big main product. For my magazine front cover I decided to focus on one of the actors, being in the magazine, instead of focusing on the character that the actor was playing. I chose to do this after researching thoroughly into existing products. I realised in this research that it was fairly split as to whether they focused on the actors or the characters and I thought it would be effective to focus upon the actor as this still linked to the film poster and the main product of my teaser trailer.

For my other ancillary product; the film poster, I also wanted to make sure it showed a strong relation to my other products making it seem like a complete package. I used several pictures and snippets of the diary itself to make on big picture for my film poster, relating it back to the idea of my teaser trailer and what my main concept was based around. I also used a strapline, which again linked to the whole narrative of what my teaser trailer was based on. I think this was effective as it was then clear to the audience that the products linked together.

I think overall my three products work effectively together and there is a clear understanding that they link together and all are part of the same product. I think that one way in which I could have made it even clearer that they all were for the same product could be to change the idea that the actor was actually being the character within the photograph on the magazine cover. Having said that I still feel the three products work effectively together and it is still clear to the audience that they all link.

Evaluation question 1: In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
